7 Prayers for Israel That Align with Scripture

Read the scriptures below and use the sample prayers as a guide to lift up your own prayers for Israel.

1. Psalm 122:6: Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: ‘May they prosper who love you.’”

Father God, we ask You to send peace and prosperity to Jerusalem. Your Word says that Jerusalem was built as a city where the tribes go to give thanks to the name of the Lord. We pray for peace within Jerusalem’s walls and give thanks to You.

2. Matthew 23:39: Pray that Israel comes to know their Messiah, Jesus Christ.

“… for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’”

Father God, we know that all of Israel will be saved, according to Romans 11:26. We lift up prayers for Israel to call upon the name of Jesus Christ, recognizing Him as their Savior today, before the Tribulation.

3. Exodus 23:31: Pray for Israel's borders to be secure.

“And I will set your bounds from the Red Sea to the sea, Philistia, and from the desert to the River. For I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you shall drive them out before you.”

Father God, we lift up prayers for Israel’s borders and those protecting them. We ask that security be strengthened and wisdom imparted to the leaders and soldiers in the IDF so that enemy forces are driven out of the land.

4. Psalm 91:4: Pray for those in Israel to run to God's wings of protection.

“He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.”

Father God, we pray for all those in Israel and the area impacted by the attacks to turn their eyes to You, take shelter under Your wings, and learn the truth about Jesus and Your spiritual armor.

5. Psalm 138:7: Pray for all captives and hostages.

“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch out Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand will save me.”

Father God, we pray for all those who were or are captives and hostages in Gaza. We pray they will know that You walk with them in the midst of their troubles, and Your right hand delivers and saves. Lord, give them strength, peace, and freedom.

6. Zechariah 12:4-5: Pray that the Lord supernaturally protects and empowers Jerusalem and the people of Israel.

“‘In that day,’ says the Lord, ‘I will strike every horse with confusion, and its rider with madness; I will open My eyes on the house of Judah, and will strike every horse of the peoples with blindness. And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, ‘The inhabitants of Jerusalem are my strength in the Lord of hosts, their God.’”

Father God, we lift up prayers for Israel’s protection and empowerment. Guard her cities and borders and empower the leaders with Your wisdom and strength, displaying Your glory as You defend her.

7. Genesis 12:3 and Isaiah 60:12: pray for the nations and groups against God and His people to turn so they are not cursed and utterly ruined.

“‘I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’”—Genesis 12:3

“For the nation and kingdom which will not serve you shall perish, and those nations shall be utterly ruined.”—Isaiah 60:12

Father God, we lift up prayers for Israel and the nations surrounding her. We pray for these nations and groups to encounter Your mercy and love, causing them to turn away from their rebellion and to You so they are not utterly ruined.
