As the Deer pants after the water brooks, so pants my soul

Raat aur din aasoon behte hain

My tears have been my food day and night

Duniya wale sab kehte hain

While they continually say to me,

Hai kaun kahan hai tera khuda

Where is Your God?

Kyun hai itna bechain yeh dil

Why are you cast down, O my soul?

Kyun jaan yeh girti jaati hai

And why are you disquieted within me

Hoga kis din deedar tera

When shall I see Him?

Kab hoga milna rubaru, meri rooh

When shall I come and appear before God?

Yardaan ki zameen se gaoonga

I will remember you from the land of Jordan

Kohe mizgaar se gaaonga

From the hills of Hermon and Mizar

Geharaon se geharaon tak

Deep calls unto deep

Raat aur din hoga tera karam

The Lord will command His loving kindness day and night

Mein geet dua ke gaaonga

His song shall be with me

Woh mujhpe kare apni rehmat

A prayer to the God of my life

Dushman ki malamat teer si hai

The oppression of the enemy breaks my bones

Kyun uske zulm ka sog karoon

Why should I mourn because of them

Chattaan hai meri mera khuda

I will say to God, my Rock

Woh mujhse yeh hardam kehte hain

My enemies reproach me

Hai kaun kahan hai tera khuda

They say to me all day long, where is your God?

Hoga kis din deedar tera

When shall I see Him?

Mere toote dil ki aas hai tu, meri rooh….
